Job Title: Security Engineer

Location: Pittsburgh, PA

Duration: Long Term

Job Description:

• United States Steel Corporation has an immediate opening for two IT Security Engineer contract positions within the Security Engineering & Architecture team.
• The positions are responsible for supporting enterprise-wide security architectures and designs.
• The consultants will research, develop and recommend architectural policies and practices for current and future security initiatives from definition phase through implementation.
• Technologies include but are not limited to Data Loss Prevention (DLP), Security Incident and Event Monitoring (SIEM) and Privileged Account Management.

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

• Knows and applies the fundamental concepts, practices and procedures of IT security hardware, software, management software, and troubleshooting tools
• Plans delivery of solutions; answers technical and procedural questions for less experienced team members; teaches improved processes; mentors team members
• Determines security requirements by evaluating business strategies and requirements; researching information security standards; conducting system security and vulnerability analyses and risk assessments; studying architecture/platform; identifying integration issues; preparing cost estimates
• Plans security systems by evaluating network and security technologies while adhering to industry standards
• Implements security systems  and equipment; directing equipment and software installation and calibration; preparing preventive and reactive measures; creating, transmitting, and maintaining keys; providing technical support; completing documentation
• Monitors and responds to complex technical hardware and software security problems utilizing a variety of hardware and software testing tools and techniques
• Verifies security systems by developing and implementing test scripts
• Maintains security by monitoring and ensuring compliance to standards, policies, and procedures; conducting incident response analyses; developing and conducting training programs
• Upgrades security systems by monitoring security environment; identifying security gaps; evaluating and implementing enhancements
• Prepares system security reports by collecting, analyzing, and summarizing data and trends
• Updates job knowledge by tracking and understanding emerging security practices and standards; participating in educational opportunities; reading professional publications; maintaining personal networks; participating in professional organizations
• Participates in audit response management and provides ongoing guidance on solutions to achieve and maintain security compliance
• Contributes to the security incident response management program including development and testing
• Provides support for external/internal vulnerability management programs and 3rd Party vendor management and risk assessments

Personal Skills Required:

• Excellent verbal and written communication skills in the English language are required
• Ability to independently research and solve technical issues
• Ability to meet targeted deadlines with minimal supervision

Technical Skills Required:

• Prior experience working with Data Loss Prevention (DLP) –OR– Security Incident and Event Monitoring (SIEM) –OR– Privileged Account Management solutions
• Experience with network security, network hardware configuration, network protocols, networking standards, information security policies
• Ability to follow and support USS standards for design, development, implementation and documentation of IT security solutions

Additional Skills/Qualities not required but would be a plus:

• Certifications preferrred: CEH, CISSP or CISM
