Job Title: Oracle DBA

Location: Pittsburgh, PA

Duration: CTH / Full Time

Job Description:

The candidate will join a team that provides 24x7 enterprise level Oracle DBA (Database Administration) and Oracle 11i/R12 Applications DBA support for PPG's fleet of Oracle databases (300 databases on 150 Linux & Windows servers) and Regional Oracle E-Business Suite environments.  The candidate will be motivated to support high availability, high performance, mission critical database platforms in Linux/Windows.

Responsibilities:

• Manage a heterogeneous database environment consisting primarily of Oracle EBS databases.
• Installation of base Oracle DB systems software, new releases, upgrades, and fixes of this software.
• Liaison with systems software vendors on database software errors and fixes.
• Implement database table and index builds and modifications. Manage database space, tables, indexes, tablespaces, redo logs, rollback segments, control files, and process logs.
• Monitor performance of databases utilizing appropriate utilities and tools. Modify existing database engine file, performance parameters and other performance variables to assure efficient processing.
• Performance tuning of databases.  Assist applications groups with SQL statement tuning.
• Provide technical consulting to developers and data admins in establishing and maintaining table / record/ element access security.  Implement database grant / role builds and modifications. Under the direction of the Data Owner, add application users and assign roles in the database.
• Coordinate with technical support backup strategy recommendation including selection of hot/cold backup, frequency of backup, and archiving strategy.
• Validate database backup and recovery processes including changes.  Manage recovery process.
• Design and construct scripts to be used to build and modify database tables and indexes. Manage entity relationships, views, constraints, functions and triggers
• Develop custom scripts and procedures in conjunction with OEM and standard scripts.
• Design detailed security access including grants and roles.  Create database objects and users with appropriate roles and levels of security.
• Working knowledge of the security aspects of the EBS application
• Knowledge and expertise in Oracle WebLogic/Fusion middleware administration
• Application patching - single and merged
• Application upgrades - module upgrades and EBS upgrades
• Application tuning including Concurrent Manager
• Utilize and adapt new technology to solve technical and business problems.

Work Environment:

• The incumbent will be a member of the Global Oracle Database Services group. 
• This position requires being routinely on-call and periodic off-hours work.

Functional / Technical Skills & Requirements:

• Solid Oracle 10g, 11g and 12c database admin skills
• Solid Oracle EBS 11i/R12 Application Infrastructure skills including Oracle Workflow
• Korn Shell or PL/SQL scripting
• Oracle Enterprise Manager
• UNIX Admin
• Precise (desired)
• Project Management
• Bachelor's degree in Information Technology field or 3+ years Oracle DBA experience
• Demonstrated troubleshooting and problem solving abilities
• Demonstrated team player.
• Must be authorized to work in the United States on a full-time basis for any employer.
