  • The Data Architect is responsible for both defining data structures and understanding the data integration across the systems. 
  • The Data Architect is expected to set data architecture principles, create models of data that enable the implementation of the intended business architecture, create diagrams showing key data entities, and create an inventory of the data needed to implement the architecture vision.
  • The role requires strong collaboration with several teams including Application Development and Infrastructure.


Scope of work:
Primary Role:
The Data Architect will own, document, and promote the vision of the data for the ETS system and all ancillary internal interfacing systems. This will be a staff augmentation role.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Analyze data elements and define data dictionary within Client ETS databases and its ancillary interfacing systems
  • Own the enterprise data model of the ETS system databases and the database models for all ancillary internal interfacing systems 
  • Lead data modeling efforts for ongoing changes of the existing ETS system and for the modernization efforts for ETS 2.0
  • Collaborate with Business Subject Matter experts, Technical Leads, and System Architects to implement business requirements and technical architecture requirements into required logical and physical database designs
  • Develop standards, conventions, and templates for database object design, including naming and data type standards
  • Reconcile and consolidate redundant database instances, replications, or extracts as appropriate to eliminate/reduce use of Production data and to avoid unrecognized change management complications from DB structure updates
  • Collaborate with Infrastructure and Technical Architects regarding database platform requirements and configurations (RAC, DataGuard, storage configuration, data volume planning, performance planning)
  • Understand health care industry specific security requirements and implement supporting database structures and controls within designs, including use of encryption and advanced security features within Oracle
  • Experience designing large database for OLTP performance, including but not limited to efficient structures, indexing schemes, proper use of partitioning, effective denormalization, and tuning recommendations/strategies at the database level.
  • Experience designing large databases for OLAP performance, including minimizing redundant data to service reports and extracts, efficient denormalization, use of materialized views, effective indexing schemes, analytic query techniques, etc.


Special Requirements:

  • Experience with data modeling for large scale, mission critical systems at a corporate enterprise level, including interfaces to multiple departments (Finance, Sales, Customer Service, etc.)
  • Experience with database design for performance, archiving, audit logging, and regulatory compliance (Federal law, Federal security standards)
  • Experience with database design for a multi-schema, component-based solutions
  • Experience implementing database design with demarcation for multiple business process domains
  • Experience implementing database modeling and design to facilitate automated build of DDL scripting and database versioning management (i.e., internal version control of database structures and interaction with automated database upgrade builds)
  • Data modeling experience using ERwin or Oracle Developer Database Designer
  • DBA Experience with Oracle 11g R2 or higher
  • Experience with health care claims processing a plus
  • Experience with OLAP features such as cubes and In-memory a plus
  • Off-Shift work and weekend work may be needed
