Job Title: Lead DevOps Engineer

Location: San Francisco, CA

Summary:

The Lead Server Engineer is responsible for the design, development, deployment, and operations of all server development projects.  The ideal candidate will be someone who is a self-starter and passionate about staying on top of the latest innovations in software development.  The position requires a deep knowledge of a variety of server development platforms and operating environments, including PHP, AWS, Linux, MySQL, Apache, JavaScript, HTML, and CSS.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:         

Design

• Help to architect solutions and manage our engineers through implementation of new features.
• Lead the design phase for any Server-development initiatives.
• Provide support for any other application design initiatives when possible.
• Work closely with other groups to understand needs and deliver solutions.
• Bring fresh ideas on how technology can be used to solve big problems.

Development

• Documenting technical specifications.
• Write clean and maintainable code following best practices (unit testing, source control, continuous integration, automation, etc.)
• Collaborate with other developers, designers, and testers to ensure quality product enhancements.
• Strong analysis, problem solving and troubleshooting skills.
• Coordinating with designers, administrators, project managers, and other programmers.

DevOps

• Applying and supporting automation using DevOps tools such as puppet, chef, and fabric.
• Performing security, performance, and availability assessments.
• Designing, configuring, troubleshooting, and maintaining computer systems.
• Deploying, managing and maintaining secure, scalable network systems.
• Learning (and sharing) new skills through independent research, formal training, and industry events.
• Innate leadership skills.

Requirements:

• Degree in Computer Science or Information Systems.
• 10+ years overall professional software development experience.
• 5+ years of scripting language development experience.
• 5+ years of experience working in a Linux/Unix development environment.
• 5+ years experience with technologies such as PHP, Java and JavaScript.
• Experience on Cloud (AWS, Azure, VCloud APIs)
• Experience with MySQL administration / optimization.
• Experience with Memcached, Varnish or other caching technologies.
• Experience with good engineering practices (test driven development, continuous integration, etc.)
